In 2019, Kilkenny County Council commissioned Colliers International, a renowned tourism and destination consultancy to develop a major tourism and recreation plan for Woodstock and Inistioge. The specific brief they were given is outlined below –

Objective – ‘The development of a business plan for the Woodstock Estate as a major tourism and recreation flagship project for Ireland’s Ancient East. The setting out of all the opportunities and issues relating to the development and management of the Woodstock Estate as a major tourism facility.’

A detailed report was produced and delivered to Kilkenny County Council. It found that the Council’s ‘…objective of transforming Woodstock into a major tourism and recreation flagship project for the South East is possible…’. A detailed 155-page report outlined in detail how the plan could be implemented and the level of investment that would be required to make it a reality.

The report was never published. However, we have been able to access it by way of a Freedom of Information request. You can download the full report here Woodstock Tourism Recreation Plan 2019
