The National Transport Authority (NTA) has announced a major enhancement of bus services across Carlow, Kilkenny and Wicklow, strengthening regional connectivity and expanding public transport options for communities throughout the area.
Background and service continuity
Operated by TFI Local Link Carlow Kilkenny Wicklow, these improvements both maintain continuity following the withdrawal of services by Bernard Kavanagh and Sons and introduce a higher level of service for passengers. The changes represent a clear investment in more frequent, more accessible, and more reliable public transport across the region.
TFI Route 882 will also see significant upgrades, with improved connections between Inistioge, Thomastown, Bennettsbridge and Kilkenny. The service will increase to up to four daily return journeys, doubling the previous frequency, and will operate seven days a week including weekends.
Withdrawal of route 374
As part of these wider improvements, Bus Éireann Route 374, which currently operates between New Ross and Kilkenny on a limited Thursday basis, will be withdrawn.
