Inistioge Community Courses Group – Update May 2025

As the Summer holidays are almost upon us, the Inistioge Community Courses group with the kind assistance of KCETB (Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board), will be taking a break during July and August. Our last course before the break is Air Dry Pottery starting on Friday 30th of May and finishing on the 27th of June. There are still a few spots available on this course, please see the poster below for details on how to sign up
We have had a very busy 2 years in 2024 and 2025 with fantastic courses covering such subjects as Sewing, Art, Basket Making, Air Dry Pottery, Jewellery Making, Cookery and Calligraphy. We hope to provide more exciting opportunities later this year with further courses, with the support of our wonderful tutors and the funding received from KCETB. With the financial assistance of the KCETB, it ensures that the courses can be offered at low cost to participants, as they help to cover a substantial amount of the expenses of running the courses and we are truly grateful for this.
For all those who have taken part in the courses, we thank you so much and hope that you have enjoyed them. It has been great to see such a positive reaction to this initiative of bringing low cost/affordable courses to Cois Abhann, Inistioge.
To all at Cois Abhann and the Inistioge Community Council, a massive thank you, without the support of Andy, Jimmy, Sandra and Francesca, these courses could not happen. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful venue as Cois Abhann in our community, and it is fantastic to see it as such an important, inclusive and busy hub for the village and surrounding areas.
The project to bring these courses to Inistioge was due to the hard work and determination of the amazing Josette, who always gives so much to our local community. She recognised a need for learning and training, and almost as importantly, an opportunity for people to gather together and have fun. We cannot thank her enough for bringing these courses to the village.
It takes time, energy and enthusiasm to get the courses up and running and to keep them going – along with Josette there is the hardworking team of Aoife, Kathleen, Rosemary and Tanya who keep the show on the road and we thank them for all they do. We thank John for helping us to get the word out there, by helping us to spread the course information through social media. There are several others behind the scenes who help us in many ways and we are extremely grateful for their support.
Please keep your eyes on social media and the notice boards around the village, for details of our next courses which should begin again in the Autumn. In the meantime, if you want to sign up for the last few slots on the Air Dry Pottery course, please contact Kathleen on 089-4395044.
