In a recent event at Woodstock Gardens, Inistioge, leading trade unionist, Jimmy Kelly presented a donation from the proceeds of his recent memoir At the End of the Day to the Inistioge George Brown Memorial Committee. In welcoming Jimmy, Chairperson, Tom O’Neill reminded those present that since the establishment of the George Brown Committee in 2007 its activities always had the unremitting support of Jimmy Kelly and fellow Waterford trade unionist, Seán Kelly. Without them, he doubted that the memory of George Brown would have been commemorated annually for the last eighteen years.
Speaking about the publication of his book, the author acknowledged the invaluable support he received from a wide circle of friends, mentioning in particular the encouragement received from the George Brown Memorial Committee, with special mention to Terry Bannon and Joe Doyle for their work on editing, proof-reading, formatting and photography. On account of this group’s contribution, he saw it as only fitting that a donation from the proceeds should go to it, making funding available for the next Annual George Brown event on the weekend beginning Friday, 27 June, 2025.
