In Caelo CD Launch ‘Christmas-tide’

Sunday 25th November 2018 8pm, Cois Abhann Centre, Inistioge

In Caelo Chamber Choir is delighted to announce the launch of their new CD ‘Christmas-tide’, which we recorded during October 2018 in St Columcille’s Church, Inistioge. This new recording will make the ideal Christmas gift for family and friends and provide a special soundtrack for the festive season. The collection features some of the choir’s best-loved Christmas music, and also some new carols, and settings of traditional favourites, including :-

  • Candlelight Carol (Rutter)
  • Silent Night (Gruber)
  • In the Bleak Midwinter (Darke)
  • Do You Hear What I Hear? (Regney/Shayne)
  • Carol of the Bells (Leontovich)
  • Christmas-tide, a beautiful contemporary carol by composer Bob Chilcott.

The choir will be holding a launch event on Sunday 25th November at 8pm in Cois Abhann centre, Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny. We are most honoured to welcome the greatest hurling manager in the game’s history, Brian Cody, to present the CD launch event, where the choir will perform some carols from the CD along with other favourite repertoire. Entrance to the event is free and there will be refreshments – a perfect way to ease yourself into the festive season!

In Caelo Choir, Inistioge

In Caelo is a chamber choir from Inistioge, County Kilkenny. There are fifteen people in the choir currently, from the Inistioge area and further afield in the county. Our repertoire is both spiritual and secular and ranges from Palestrina, Tallis, Mozart and Handel to John Rutter and Arvo Part, including traditional spirituals, light-hearted songs and popular arrangements. We sing for the enjoyment of singing but also enjoy stretching ourselves with new repertoire. We have sung at a number of music festivals and competitions in recent years, winning prizes in Kilkenny and Tipperary, and have appeared on RTE Radio. We regularly sing in concerts in Kilkenny, Wexford, Tipperary and further afield. The members of the choir are Peter Nolan and Elspeth Hayes (Directors), Sandra Proctor, Martina Murphy, Emily Quirk, Elaine Costello, Helen Heffernan, Francesca Watkin, Siobhan Maher, Polly Donnellan, Úna Kavanagh, Peter Prendergast, Philip Hardy, Eddie Keher, Paul Martin. The CD is available to purchase online.
