Welcome to The Rower/Inistioge Baby & Toddler Group and thank you for visiting our webpage!
History
In 2011, 3 local ladies – Sarah, Annamarie and Jemma – were leaving our community to attend a very welcoming baby group each week. We were delighted with the support and benefits. After having coffee, Jemma suggested we set up a baby and toddler group in Inistioge. We were all 100% in agreement and between us we got set-up with the help of our star volunteer, Joan. Posters / advertisements were done and we had full support from ‘Cois Abhann’ community centre. We met a few times with Kilkenny Childcare Committee for advice/guidelines and 11 years later the group is still running. Thanks is due to all volunteers over the years who have helped out with set-up, clearing away, organising big events, nights out, baking, acting as treasurer and in general supporting each other in any way we can.
Helpful Information
We meet every Tuesday during the school term, upstairs in Cois Abhann, Inistioge from 10-12. All are welcome. We are an open, inclusive, non-judgemental, welcoming bunch.
We have a group of 3 volunteers that set up, run the group and clean-up each week. We request a €3 donation each week per family. We use this money to pay for rent. We get a grant (applied for in February each year) to partially cover equipment , training , materials , refreshments, goods and rent for the hall.
Our Facebook page is Rower/Inistioge Baby & Toddler Group and we have a group on Whats App also with updates shared-leave your number with one of volunteers or text 0873211926
We try our best to partake in community events such as the St. Patrick’s Day parade to spread the word about our lovely group. We try to organise a visit from Santa each Christmas and we celebrated our 10-year anniversary in Woodstock in August 2022.
We welcome any creative talents. If there is something you would like to share with the group or teach the children, we would be delighted. We try to incorporate rhymes, storytelling and art activities for the children.
There is tea and coffee for parents each week, sometimes even tasty home-baking. There is plenty of room for the children to play. It is each parent’s responsibility to supervise their child for the duration of the group Baby changing facilities are available too.
We are always looking for new places to advertise our group and there are posters available from any volunteer if you have any ideas.
Please join us one Tuesday morning in Cois Abhann.
