In Caelo

In Caelo is a chamber choir from Inistioge, County Kilkenny.  The choir was formed in 2006 by Peter Nolan from members of the local parish choir who wanted to expand their repertoire.  There has always been a strong tradition of singing and music in Inistioge dating back to pre-famine times when the village boasted a Brass and Reed band.  The choir currently numbers up to fifteen people, who are mostly from the Inistioge area but with a few from further afield. Our repertoire is both spiritual and secular and ranges from Palestrina, Tallis, Mozart and Handel to John Rutter and Arvo Pärt, including traditional spirituals and popular songs. We sing for the enjoyment of singing but also enjoy stretching ourselves with new repertoire. We have been successful over the years at a number of music festivals and competitions and have appeared on Radio Éireann. We regularly sing in concerts in Kilkenny, Wexford, Tipperary and further afield.

Portmarnock Singers

The Portmarnock Singers are a mixed voice choir from the picturesque seaside resort of Portmarnock in north Co. Dublin. The Choir was established in 1976 by a group of people who aspired to foster excellence in choral singing combined with fun and friendship. The “Singers” have successfully maintained that focus over the years and two years ago celebrated their 40th anniversary with great pride and joy.

The Choir’s repertoire includes classical, sacred music, popular and gospel music and has included a co-production of Handel’s Messiah.

They have performed in the national Concert Hall, the Helix, Farmleigh House, Dublin Castle, Dublin Airport, RTE 1, Lyric FM and further afield in Prague and Krakow. Their 40th festivities saw them take part in the International Advent Singing Festival in Vienna. Their annual Christmas Concert is eagerly awaited to launch the festive season in Portmarnock.  The choir’s competitive instinct has seen them competing at many Choral Festivals  including Sligo, Navan, Arklow, Cork, and Dublin Feis Ceoil with much success including First place in the Gospel competition at New Ross Choral festival in 2014.

The “Singers” commitment to the “ Community” aspect of the choir is very evident in their annual performances at local charity and community events

The Choir is delighted to be here with their Musical Director, Cathy McEvoy, and Accompanist, Anja Kuncic to take part in a Concert with “In Caelo”.
